A tragic Story

100 years after the Titanic tragedy, the world's most famous ship still fascinates us. This April, discover the legend in the new 3D version of James Cameron's film Titanic.

What was the Titanic?
The Titanic was the largest passenger ship in the world when it was built in 1912 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It was like a floating town with passengers from all social classes. Third-class passengers paid £3 to £8 for a one-way ticket to America. First-class passengers paid £30.
Inside the Titanic
The Titanic was a luxury ship. Rich passenger paid £865 for a suite decorated in elegant styles. There was also the famous Grand Staircase (see photo) which is in the film Titanic too.

The Titanic's destination
The Titanic's first voyage was from Southampton, in England, to New York City, USA. The ship left on 10 April 1912... but never arrived at her destination
 

The tragedy
On 14 April, four days after leaving Southampton, the Titanic was in the North Atlantic. The sea was calm but visibility was low. At 11.40 pm, a lookout saw a large iceberg near the ship. 37 seconds later, the Titanic hit the iceberg and water entered the ship. At first the passengers didn't panic... two hours and 40 minutes later, at 2.20 am the Titanic sank...
 

Who died?
Of the 2,224 people on board, only 710 survived: there were not enough lifeboats. Most survivors were women, children and the rich: 60% of first-class passengers survived. But only 42% of second- class and less than 25 % of third class passengers survived.

Visitors can learn about the tianic and Belfast at a new visitor centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It's a giant building with four wings the shape of Titanc's hull

The last survivor
The last survivor of the Titanic died in 2009 aged 96. Her name was Millvina Dean and she was two months old when she was rescued from the ship.

The people and the history say that Sheakspire arrived in London in 1592 who works as a playwright and a actor. The historians think that he went to live in London because his son was died.

I saw that the population of London at 1600 was about 200000 people. London was a very smelly place. There were different things that caused the smell for example the butchers would skin and gut animals and then throw unwanted bits and bobs in the river (which was right by the houses) and people also put all there waste into the river, people also bathed in that river, washed their clothes and much much more.

Sean Paul's new album is out this month. The Jamaican star's music is a mix of pop, rap, dancehall and reggae. But he wasn't going to be a musician: he trained to be a hotel manager! He was also on the Jamaican national water polo team from the age of 13 to 21, but gave it up to do music. Fans should listen to his singles "Got 2 Luv U" and "She doesn't Mind".

Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley, OM (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician. He was the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the ska, rocksteady and reggae band Bob Marley & The Wailers (1963–1981). Marley remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music, and is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide audience.

Marley's music was heavily influenced by the social issues of his homeland, and he is considered to have given voice to the specific political and cultural nexus of Jamaica. In my opinion I think that the best song of Bob Marley is: Buffalo Soldier.

Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook in 2004, aged 19. Today he is the second youngest billionaire in the world.

Zuckerberg was a computer prodigy from a young age: his friend did illustrations which he transformed into computer games. He also showed a special talent for Latin, Ancient Greek and fencing.

He left Neu York in 2002 to go Harvard, an elite American university, to study psychology andcomputer science. He was shy and people thought he was a geed. He started o develop social network sites for fun.

Zuckerberg hacked into Harvard's computer system on 20 October 2003. He copied private photos of university students to create a site called Facemash. On the site, students could see photos and vote for the people they found most attractive. The site had 450 visitors in four hours, but Harvard shut it down... and Mark Zucherberg was almost expelled!

In 2006, the website Yahoo tried to buy Facebook, but Zuckerberg refused. He became known as the "kid who refused a billion dollars.

Denise Bostock, who works at Derby police station, says it's not easy to find someone with size 21 (European size 55) trainers. "We've got some very tall police officers, but not with that size feet!"

This is 15-years-old German girl, Regina Mayer and her cow, Luna.
Regina loves horses but her parents did not have the money to buy her one. So she decided to train her cow to jump! Now Luna understands the commands "go", "stand"" and "galop".
